TAMBURO DRUM immediately received the approval of the musicians. First Italians and Europeans, then internationals, with the name circulating among insiders during their participation in trade fairs all over the world. Spaces that consecrate TAMBURO and the fame of its versatile and substantial products. The brand emerges and its acoustic drums continue to be heard more and more. Powered by the likes of Peter Erskine, Dave Weckl, Tommy Campbell and many more.

As we approach the end of the Millennium in 1997, TAMBURO takes a decisive turn by joining Proel. From this point in history, violin making meets the driving force of a large company and the strategic support of its research and development division. The combination is a winner. And he sees Tullio Granatello, who has always been a sound craftsman and innovator, supported by Proel in transforming intuitions into revolutionary products. Like the “ST-Tension”, new concept tie-rods, invented and soon “copied” by the main competitors.

From the fertile partnership, the range of TAMBURO acoustic drums has expanded its horizons over the years. To the now legendary OPERA, with the staved shell, are added UNIKA, with a powerful and versatile sound, FORMULA, a must for the most refined musicians, and the T5, ideal for those approaching the world of drums. Only recently TAMBURO has included the VOLUME line in its catalog, an expression of technological innovation that sees the use of alternatives to wood, such as methacrylate.

DRUM BATTERY: Italian mastery and craftsmanship
Today, thanks to the continuous experiments of the Tamburo R&D team and the indications of the musicians and our collaborators, we have redesigned and improved the product, in line with the new needs of the market and the most refined drummers.

From 1984 to the present day, following the "pure" passion for sound
Each series has been re-designed and perfected with cutting-edge materials and techniques, meeting the needs of today's global market. But TAMBURO never loses sight of its identity, and the values that echoed already in 1984 in that laboratory in Novara. The keys to his score? Pure passion for sound, evolutionary tension and an artisanal approach.

The stave frame
The construction of the frame has now been refined with CNC cutting technologies and, thanks to a new tapping profile and a specific PU glue, we have managed to reduce the thickness of the slats to just 6mm. This means that the frame structure is now more compact and solid than ever.
The stave is composed as follows:

1. external layer in HPL, coated with melamine or wood finishes with PU paint
2. Five-layer birch plywood with phenolic bonding
3. internal side painted in polyurethane (PU) to protect the wood from humidity
4. internal reinforcement rings with beech wood bands to bind and stiffen the frame

The woods
They are expertly used to define the perfect construction of the blank. The choice of material is always important, but what really matters in TAMBURO is how we use wood to make quality tools. It is precisely our constructive ideology and its technical approach that guide us in evaluating the best natural essences. Their general characteristics, in fact, are already managed in the prototyping phase, evaluating the final result a priori.

Unika series: the poplar
An essence that TAMBURO revolutionizes, putting the characteristics of poplar at the service of the frame of the UNIKA series. Lightness, considerable capacity in terms of flexibility, mechanical strength, homogeneity, excellent predisposition to gluing. They are necessary contents, of the highest value, which make the creation of our innovative multilayer possible. Used in combination with HPL (High Pressure Laminate).

Opera series: the birch
We use birch in phenolic glued plywood: a perfect choice for the production of the strips that will then go into the polyhedral cylinder of the OPERA series frame. A unique element of our prestigious battery. This multilayer guarantees high mechanical performance, with an advantageous weight / performance ratio. Everything is made to adhere to the external HPL laminate with the aid of vinyl glue, thus reaching a total thickness of only 6 millimeters. Optimal thickness for the realization of the new cutting profile, of our design, necessary for fixing the strips.
